Gender equality has been a controversial issue for a very long time. It is one of the most discussed topics among many institutions. What is gender equality? Gender equality is also known as sexual equality. This is a belief that is formed from injustice and so many innumerable reasons. Gender equity is usually defined by many great world bodies like UNICEF as related to human rights most especially pertaining to women's rights. Regardless of its definition, it still stems a hot issue among many entities because of differences among cultural or societal beliefs. This means that what can be considered as equal to others may be unequal to some.
Gender inequality is the exact opposite of gender equity. This refers to the obvious discrepancy among various individuals because of gender. There are many reasons leading to gender inequality. One example is when someone makes a distinction between man and woman along with differential treatment. This situation can be best seen in many work places all over the world.
Gender equality and inequality in the workplace are primary issues when it comes to gender controversies. Usually when it comes to issues about gender, inequality is the reason behind it. Females and sometimes gays or lesbians are the most affected sexes when pertaining to workplace discrimination. Although many do not know it, discrimination among sexes is very rampant especially in the field of business. This is because of the fact that many consider men to be the stronger sex thus viewing women as subordinates in any angle. However, when it comes to business, many still think of it this way.

As the twentieth century has reached its peak, more and more people view men and women as equally capable being. This means that what men can do, women can too. In the business setting, the most discriminated sexes being the female, lesbians, or gays, are already rising in power. More and more of these so-called subordinate sexes have stood up for their rights. Because of their open mindedness, society has slowly become adept to the fact that no gender is stronger than the other is. This has made gender inequality in the workplace an almost obsolete issue.
Because of so many cultural differences, gender equality in the workplace cannot be perfectly achieved. For this reason, gender inequality will be a hard subject to remove from people's minds. No one can really eradicate beliefs or cultural inclination overnight. This means to say that what is learned cannot be unlearned and gender discrimination is one thing that has been in the minds of people for a very long time.
Gender equality and inequality in business or in the workplace should be discussed with utmost care. Although it is a fragile topic, people should remember that for a business to flourish inequality should not be practiced and equality should be adapted. Every business establishment is better off without any discrepancies regarding the gender of its staff. If gender inequality surfaces in the workplace then such business stands as a bad example for its clients.
