A community is influenced by gender roles more strong and prevalent than any popular idea people have known and believed in for the longest time. There can be no escaping the grasp of tradition and culture which have always dictated what people must and must not do in order to be accepted in a world where non-compliance is a mortal sin.
Research proves that gender inequality is still a popular issue in society. The workplace is not exempt from this old monster. There is no denying that gender inequality is still present in the workplace. Social movements and the so-called Feminism have given change a helping hand in the hopes that the lives of women may be bettered and the people enlightened. The improvement of gender relations became the goal of the abused, the concerned, and the enlightened.
Sociologists sees gender as a social construct when in reality gendered occupations are but products of social assumptions and beliefs regarding the projected image of the self. There can be no brilliant movement without the aim for the good and the just. Business players have made it their goal to stop women from rising above the glass ceiling. Some believe that certain positions in business sectors are never meant and designed for women. There are boundaries that limit the rise of women. This idea in business sectors does nothing but hinders promotion and fair treatment. Business seems to be more supportive of men than of women. This is very clear in the way businesses and other transactions are handled.

Gender inequality hinders personal and professional growth. People do not get what they work for. Gender assumptions prove to be lethal in the family, community, and even in today's business sector. There is no escaping the clutches of gender inequality when people so blindly cling to what they assume to be the case. The present times have seen the rise of women like never before witnessed. The women of the new millennia have made it their singular goal in life to compete with men head on. They are proving to the world that they are also deserving of the place of men in the society.
The business sector has made it difficult for women to rise into power because men seem to think that though women can join the workforce, there are still boundaries for them. Promotions take longer for women because of the old dictates and assumptions based on physical and emotional limitations of "wombed" gender. Business players place little trust when it comes to women encroaching the business grounds. Men make it a point to put a stop to a woman's career when that woman has reached a level that is nearing theirs. Business and other sectors place a glass ceiling which makes it all the more difficult if not impossible for women to be their best and get to their well-deserved place. With this unglamorous spectacle men are proudly showing, women have become driven and almost obsessed to climb above the glass ceiling and prove men wrong.
