The Reality

Gender equality has always engrossed and disturbed the human society. That men and women can be in the same place in the community sometimes feels like a tall tale. The world, as many believed and still believes, is a place for men. There is but little space and opportunity for women. This is what some call the inescapable reality. Therefore, in whatever way or form, there shouldn't be any issues to be raised regarding gender inequality. The way people have been living is a clear proof that there is in fact a deep rooted source for all the inequalities women are painfully experiencing in the hands of men. There is no denying that life has always been hard and stoic for most women because of boundaries drawn by men in the society where both genders have always lived and fought against each other.

However, the call for change has not landed on deaf ears. The most inconspicuous of people have learned to pay attention and defy to the command of tradition and culture. The world has come to know change. Although it is still in its early stages, changes are quite visible in the family, community, and workplace.

This new era has seen an emancipation of ideas and beliefs that no other time has witnessed. There is in the lives of men and women an unstoppable command to unchain the hands of women and release them from the shadow of men. Men who have, since time immemorial, believed themselves to be above everything in the world are now being tested and challenged to bring forth their argument why things should stay the same.

Research proves that gender inequality is still a popular issue in society. The workplace is not exempt from this old monster. There is no denying that gender inequality is still present in the workplace. Social movements and the so-called Feminism have given change a helping hand in the hopes that the lives of women may be bettered and the people enlightened.

The improvement of gender relations became the goal of the abused, the concerned, and the enlightened. Sociologists sees gender as a social construct when in reality gendered occupations are but products of social assumptions and beliefs regarding the projected image of the self. People have always delegated tasks depending on the physical and emotional characteristics of men and women. Therefore, the delegation of tasks is as flimsy as a child's dreams. This idea is not entirely delectable. The modern world is brave and defiant. A critical mind is the answer to the sufferings and limitations of people. There can be no brilliant movement without the aim for the good and the just. Gender assumptions have caused women to be thwarted by the glass ceiling. It is hindering promotion and fair treatment. The kind of work is heavily dictated by the gender of an individual. People should know better than assign roles and assume that men will always be better than women in all things and in all workplace.
